The Samsung Galaxy S7 Sales Hike In March.

It appears that Samsung sales has gone beyond expectation again. Despite an obvious turndown in the high-end market, the Galaxy S7 has managed to grab a very exciting sales figure.
However, these figures are yet not final, and according to Jay Yoo, an analyst at Korean Investment and Securities, Samsung pre-orders were already exceeding 7 million units and the company shipped approximately around 9.5 S7 phones around March.

Thereby, it appears that even if it was similar to S6 in some respects, still, it is not deterring factor in terms of sales. This time with both keeping the prevailing factors and holding the foundations, Samsung managed to build two attractive devices. The dearth of major redesign actually lessened the production cost which can give a major boost to profits.

Samsung Regaining Its Foot In Emerging Markets

Initially Samsung was on the top of the game in emerging markets but from the past two years it has been experiencing dwindling sales in China, India, Indonesia due to emergence of inexpensive technology providers and more reliable and cheap brands like Huawei setting foot in South East Asian markets. Samsung is now cutting the prices to attract customers is the same regions as it previously used to do. For instance, low-priced J series come with some high-end specs and give premium experience to users.

However, lowering the prices does hit the profit margins of the company. Hence according to Wall Street Journal cutting prices could be a temporary solution to the company. Samsung 2015 fourth quarter profits dropped to 60% as compared to two years for the same period.
Samsung gross profit margin also dropped to 8.9% in 2015 as compared to its biggest competitor Apple which is 40%. In 2013, Samsung gross profit margin was 16.1%. Samsung executive says they can do it by cutting the production cost and discontinuing the various unnecessary model but we all know this does not happen overnight.
More over cutting prices could be a quicker solution to grab more market share and become the top manufacturing brand in a region but doing this might mean digging your own grave in terms of profit margins.

Moreover, Ming Chi Kuo predicts that Apple might not see its peak iPhone Times and iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will witness declining sales when compared to its predecessor. The downfall in the sales of iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus is the rise of replacement demand in the developing markets not being fast enough to cover the meek demand from developed economies.
Even though the reports and rumors suggest that next iPhone 7 will come with dual-camera set up, KGI is not sure if Apple could recover.
KGI is also skeptical about Apple’s iPhone SE achieving 3.4 million pre-orders in China. The company has also provided no solid evidence for this number, though, we can only make sure of it via Apple’s Financial Report of 2016.
